Video: 2011 DUB Edition Mustang GT featuring Nelly and Jim Farley

The 2011 DUB Edition Mustang GT is a specially prepared one-off custom car built by DUB Magazine for Grammy Award winning hip-hop artist Nelly.  The customized 2011 Mustang GT was built for Nelly to use for his next albums cover art which should come out sometime this spring.  So far all we have seen are a few photos of Nelly and the Mustang but video has now been posted online of the car launch.  The video features Jim Farley, Group VP of Global Marketing for Ford, Nelly and DUB Magazine President and Co-founder Myles Kovacs talking about the new 2011 DUB Edition Mustang GT as it’s introduced. … Continue Reading

2011 Shelby GT350 to pace Shelby American Sprint Cup NASCAR Race

The 2011 Shelby GT350 will be the official pace car of the 2010 Shelby American Sprint Cup NASCAR race held at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.  This will be the first time the public will get to see the new supercharged Shelby GT350 in action and it will be the first time a Shelby GT350 has paced a NASCAR event. 

The new Shelby GT350 is a post-title package meaning buyers who want to purchase one will have to first purchase a 2011 Mustang GT from a local Ford dealer and than have their car shipped to Shelby American in Las Vegas for the conversion.  The post-title package has an MSRP of $33,995 which includes a supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 with six-speed transmission, Ford Racing suspension, Baer brakes, Borla exhaust, Cragar wheels and a host of other goodies.  All 2011 Shelby GT350’s will be painted white with Shelby Guardsman blue Le Mans stripes just like the originals.

Mustang GT gets Aftermarket Accessories Makeover courtesy of Motorz TV

“The King” Richard Petty to Pilot 2011 Mustang GT Daytona 500 Pace Car

Richard Petty will once again lead the Daytona 500 field but this time it will be from the specially prepared 2011 Mustang GT Daytona 500 pace car.  The Race Red 2011 Mustang GT pace car with the all-new 5.0-liter V-8 will be the first Ford product to pace the field of The Great American Race since the 1970 Daytona 500.

2011 Shelby GT500 Engine and Exhaust Sounds

2011 Ford Shelby GT500 Arrives with 550 Horsepower

The 2011 Ford Shelby GT500 will feature an all-new aluminum-block 5.4-liter supercharged V-8 engine that produces 550 horsepower and 510 ft.-lb. of torque.  The new aluminum block engine will be 102 pounds lighter than the previous iron block helping it deliver better power-to-weight ratio, improved fuel economy, acceleration and handling.

January 2010 Ford Mustang Sales Figures

You might remember a year ago today I was writing about how it was the worst single month of sales in Ford’s 45 year history of selling the Mustang at just 2,944.  A year later sales have turned around to some degree but they have a long way to go to reach their potential of years gone by.  For the coming months I would expect much of the same if not lower sales numbers until the 2011 Mustangs start hitting dealer lots. Also expect some heavy incentives on the 2010 models in the next few months to try and clear them out.

Sales of Ford Mustangs for January of 2010 were 4,747 compared to 2,944 (official record monthly low) from January of 2009 showing a 61.2% increase in sales from the previous year. Year to date Mustang sales are 4,747 compared to 2,944 for 2009, which is a 61.2% drop. … Continue Reading

Strong Man Franz Mullner Holds Back Shelby GT500

I am not sure I could hold back a moped let alone a Shelby GT500 but Strong Man Franz Mullner of Austria did such a thing as part of National Geographic Channel’s “Humanly Impossible”. Mullner held back the first-gen Shelby GT500 while it was at it’s highest rpm for a little over six seconds.

This is nothing new for Mullner who holds the world record for holding back a Lamborghini Diablo for seven seconds.

2009 Mustang GT coupe Home in the Garage

It was an exhausting three-month adventure looking for my next Mustang but in the end I threw up the white flag and purchased a 2009 Mustang GT coupe in Vapor Silver with only 1900 miles on the clock.  First off I want to say that you never end up with the car you originally start out looking for and that is what happend to me.  In the begining I searched and searched all over the country for a low mileage decently priced anniversary edition 2003 SVT Cobra convertible to no avail and when news came out about the 2011 Mustang GT with the 412 horsepower 5.0 my focus quickly switched to a different model year for various reasons.  … Continue Reading
