No Four-Cylinder EcoBoost Mustang says Ford Engineer

ecoboostengine_four-cylinderDuring a recent 2011 Mustang press event Mustang Chief Engineer Dave Pericak said there are no plans to add a four-cylinder EcoBoost engine to the already fuel efficient Mustang models.

“Right now we don’t see us going any lower …Right now we don’t plan to go backwards and go down in horsepower. We’re going to stay at at least 305 (hp) and take this thing to the next level,” Pericak told Fox Car Report.

In the interview with Fox Car Report Pericak also says he sees no reason to add a four-cylinder EcoBoost engine to the already class leading fuel efficient 2011 Mustang V-6 and GT model lineup. … Continue Reading

1,000-Lap Challenge for 2011 Mustang V-6 at Bristol on One Tank of Gas

Ford is set to drive the 2011 Mustang V-6 on a 1,000-Lap Challenge around Bristol Motor Speedway on one tank of gas on June 23rd.  You might remember Ford did something similar last year with the 201o Fusion Hybrid with Carl Edwards where it went 1,445 miles on a single tank of gas.  This time Ford is using the new 2011 Mustangs 3.7-liter V-6 that gets 19 mpg city and 31 mpg highway to try and drive over 500 miles.  It was this fuel economy rating given by the EPA that earned the 2011 Mustang V-6 the honor of being the first car ever to achieve 30 plus mpg and 300 plus horsepower. 

To achieve the 1,000 laps at Bristol a team of Ford engineers and celebrities will drive the 2011 Mustang V-6 around the half-mile NASCAR track hoping to break the 500 mile mark.  … Continue Reading

2011 Mustang GT Leads Class with 26 MPG and 412 Horsepower

We have already learned the 2011 Mustang V-6 is the first car to achieve 30+ MPG and 300+ horsepower but now comes word the 2011 Mustang GT will lead it’s class with 26 MPG highway and 412 horsepower.  Final fuel certification was done by the EPA this week with the Mustang GT achieving 26 MPG highway and 17 MPG city using the six-speed transmission.  Improvements in the aerodynamics of the 2011 Mustangs body along with the new EPAS power steering system and six-speed transmission help propel the entire Mustang lineup to be segment leaders in fuel economy.

Horsepower TV to air 2010 Roush Mustang Build

The entire build process from start to finish will be done on the set with the episode being aired May 29th and 30th on SPIKE TV with a repeat airing on July 24th and 25th.
