August 17, 2010 Mustang News 1 Comment

MustangGT-RConcept_05We first laid eyes on the Mustang GT-R concept back in 2004 at the New York Auto Show just after the S197 Mustang platform was introduced and although the race-inspired vehicle never made production its still one of the most popular concepts ever built by Ford Motor Company.  The GT-R concept recently sold at RM’s Monterey auction for $110,000.

The GT-R concept featured a 5.0-liter motor pumping out 440 horsepower along with a host of custom parts including carbon fiber racing seats, carbon fiber dash, alcantara wrapped steering wheel and side exit exhaust.

For old time sake you can check out the photos below and drool.

Still disapointed Ford never came out with that Mustang, it sure was a looker. The split tail lights is what I really loved on the Mustang. There were a few aftermarket companies that tried to copy the style, but they never got it down right. The whole car flowed together perfectly though, the mesh grille, big spoiler, side pipes and wheels look awesome!
