The folks over at Consumer Reports are a picky bunch and when we got word the 2011 Ford Mustang was a top pick on its annual list we could not believe the news. After Ford Motor Company introduced the 2012 Mustang Boss 302 Ford Racing announced a first of its kind option for the 2012 Mustang Boss 302 in the form of a TracKey. The TracKey is an additional key available from Ford Racing that bares a Red Boss 302 logo unlike the Black Boss 302 logo the standard key bares. When inserted into the ignition the Red TracKey activates a secondary PCM featuring new TracMode software that alters more than 200 engine management parameters. The new parameters increase low-end torque among other things creating a competition-ready track car in an instant. Ford Racing has officially added the Boss 302R intake manifold to its website complete with details and pricing. Originally thought to be the Boss 302 intake manifold it will retain The Boss 302R moniker which is original equipment on the Mustang Boss 302R and Boss 302S race cars. The Boss 302R intake manifold will fit all 2011-12 Ford Mustang GT’ 5.0-liter engines. The return of a Turbocharged SVO Ford Mustang may be sooner than later according to Bill Ford Jr. who revealed an Ecoboost engine will be in the cards for the Mustang in the future. He did this while speaking to a group at Princeton University the other night. After he was done speaking he took questions including one from a Jalopnik reader who asked if an Ecoboost engine would make its way under the hood of a Mustang. Its a tough way to get your 15 minutes of fame but Drew Beaumier of Fountain Valley, California did just that as he threw together a homemade Mustang Transformer costume to audition for American Idol. Drew got creative as he pieced together a Ford Mustang power wheels to create his one-off Mustang Transformer. The Idol judges which include Steven Tyler, Randy Jackson and Jennifer Lopez were in awe of Drew’s costume but in the end his “Born To Be Wild” serenade did not work out. The Shelby GT350 post-title package returns for another go around in 2012 with two new colors (Red and Blue) and a convertible model added to the mix. The 2012 Shelby GT350 will once again be a post-title package offered by Shelby American with a limited production of only 350 models. Based off a 2012 Mustang GT the GT350 package will come with the same 430 HP normally aspirated, 525 HP supercharged and 624 HP supercharged versions offered from 2011. The post-title packages start at $26,995 for the normally aspirated and $33,995 for the supercharged version which does not include the Mustang GT.
