Video: Lamborghini Gallardo crashes into Shelby GT500 during race

During a Formula Cup race in Medellin, Columbia a Lamborghini Gallardo loses traction and crashes into a Shelby GT500 in front of a crowd of spectators.  The whole accident is caught on video by one of the spectators who is filming the cup race.  The race looks to be pretty exclusive with several exotics in the race field.  Some of the exoitics included Ferrari’s, Porshe’s, Ford GT’s, Lambos, Audi R8’s and a few Z06 Corvettes. … Continue Reading

Barn Find: 1968 Shelby GT350 Mustang sat for 30 years

Barn finds are becoming increasingly more difficult to come across these days but they are still out there as is the case with this 1968 Shelby GT350 Mustang that popped up on a New York craigslist ad.  The ad says the 1968 Shelby GT350 sat for the past thirty-years in a barn before it was rescued by the current owner.  The Shelby sports Acapulco blue paint and is a numbers matching car with 95% of its original parts.  The car only has 50K miles and it comes with a Marti report.  Check out all the photos below. … Continue Reading

Ford ‘Red Tails’ edition 2013 Mustang celebrates Tuskegee Airmen

Ford Motor Company and the EAA AirVenture have partnered again for another aviation themed Mustang and this time they are honoring the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen with a one-of-a-kind 2013 ‘Red Tails’ Mustang.  Previous aviation themed Mustangs included the F-18 inspired ‘Blue Angels’ Mustang, SR-71 ‘Blackbird’ Mustang, AV-x10 ‘Dearborn Doll’ Mustang and the Ford AV8R Mustang which have raised more than $1.5 million over the past four years.

This One-of-a-kind ‘Red Tails’ 2013 Ford Mustang design was inspired by the World War II squadron of African American P-51 Mustang fighter pilots who proudly served our country.

The Red Tails Mustang will be sold at auction on July 26 at the EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin to benefit the EAA Young Eagles organization, which has provided free introductory flights to more than 1.6 million young people since 1992, helping inspire and motivate the next generation of leaders, aviators and innovators. … Continue Reading

Video: First pass for 2013 Mustang Cobra Jet

Shelby 1000 debuts at the drag strip but no track times

The headline is a little depressing but its true as the Shelby 1000 made its debut at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway drag strip where Shelby American was shooting some video and sound clips of its new 1,000 plus horsepower monster.  No quarter-mile times were recorded as this trip to the drag strip was solely meant for teasing us with some sound clips and video.  This Shelby 1000 is the prototype Supercharged track version which packs 1,200 horsepower according to Shelby American.

A little more than a year ago Shelby American introduced the entry level Shelby GTS post-title package at the New York Auto Show.  It was billed as the successor to the 2007-08 Shelby GT model which for all intentional purposes was overpriced and poorly built.  This time around Shelby American is hoping to change that mantra by attracting younger buyers with a feature packed affordable entry-level Shelby GTS model.

Its not everyday you get an unbiased comparison review of two of the most powerful american muscle cars on the market but U.K. auto journalist Chris Harris has one of the more memorable video reviews I have seen.  In the video Chris drives both the 2013 Shelby GT500 and 2012 Camaro ZL1 on the streets of Manhattan and on a road course giving his unique take on each of the vehicles.  In the end he kinda leaves you shaking your head as to which vehicle he prefers but I am pretty sure the GT500 is his favorite.  Check out the video below. … Continue Reading
