Ahead of next weeks New York Auto Show, Shelby American has announced they will unveil a new 2013 Shelby 1000 S/C track version with a mind boggling 1,200 horsepower under the hood. The new Shelby 1000 S/C track version is based on Ford’s current Shelby GT500 platform using the 662 horsepower 5.8L V8 power plant as a starting point.
Creating such a beast is not an easy task as SA tears down the 5.8L V8 engine and strengthens the internals, adds a massive supercharger, adds an adjustable suspension with launch control, bigger brakes and a performance cooling package to build one of the world’s most powerful production cars.
The 2013 Shelby 1000 post-title package will have a limited production of 100 units and will start at $154,995, not including the base GT500 which could run you around $50K.
For now that’s all we know but check back later in the week as the New York Auto Show gets closer.
