5spd trans

I'm trying to find out about the new 5spd tranny or maybe someone can help. I have a rare 90 cougar sc xr7 5spd the tranny is starting to go and trying to keep it on the road. Does anyone one know anything on the mustangs new tranns such as in major differences that would not let a swap happen. The tranny in the car now is a m5r2 please post any suggestions thanx...

Unless someone is building something custom,you can not use the Mustang transmission, as it is a T-3650.
You also can not use the T-45 or T-5.
These transmissions have fastly different bellhousings,lengths,mounts,and input shafts, not to mention the ratios are probably not compatible with the power and torque characteristics of your S/C 3.8
