In the past week or so i've had some weird problems with my car.. occasionally it is reluctant to turn over when I start it, and also i have heard a squealing noise coming from under the hood when sitting idle or at low speeds. What do you think this could be? I took it to the dealership and they said they would have to tinker with it due to the fact that the 'check engine' light hasn't came on to indicate a problem. my guess would be something to do with the alternator or possibly fuel injectors..anyone have any ideas??

We need a little more information about your car. Like what year, engine ext.
Have you teated the battery? That is the first thing that I would check with the not starting aspect. Also check the belt make sure that it is in good condition

It's an 02 Mustang GT, 4.6L engine. I had the dealership look at it and he said it wasn't the battery, and the belt wasn't damaged or glazed..

I don't know if this is the problem or not, but it is a good thing to check. Look at your IAC valve. It is very common for these to clog up in Ford vehicles. I work for a Ford dealership and am very tight with my service guys. The IAC acted up on my 01 GT and was causing it to sputter and stall. The up side if it is your IAC is that this a very easy fix. The part costs maybe $30 to $50 and the istallation is a cinch. Disconnect the small hose to the Valve, take out 2 bolts, swap in the new valve.
