AOD shift question

my 89 was a stick, but i now have a 93 AOD. question..how do you hold 2nd gear when shifting manually?? i dont drag , but from time to time like to blow out the cobwebs. when i shift to 2nd its really 2nd & 3rd. why did ford set it up this way??? :confused: thx for reply

shift down into low when you want to go into 2nd shift into drive and back to low again quickly and that will hold it in 2nd then you can manually shift into drive and od!!!
