BFGoodrich Heats Streets with Custom Mustang
BFGoodrich Tires, maker of The World?s Hottest Street Tires has created an equally hot, custom-built Ford Mustang GT as the grand prize in a nationwide sweepstakes. BFGoodrich?s ?World?s Hottest Mustang,? was created by world-class car designer Chip Foose star of The Learning Channel?s ?Rides? and ?Overhaulin?? and built by Dallas-based Unique Performance.
Beginning Aug. 20, the head-turning Mustang will be on display at Detroit?s world-famous Woodward Dream Cruise enthusiast event. Sweepstakes registration is open to all those who visit the BFGoodrich area, located at the Woodward Hunter Shell on the east side of Woodward Avenue between 13 and 14 Mile Road. Those not present can log onto bfgoodrichtires.com/winmustang beginning Aug. 20 for a chance to win the one-of-a-kind version of this American classic car. Registrants must be 18 or older and are limited to one entry per week per person until the sweepstakes ends on Dec. 31, 2005. The grand prize winner of the Mustang will be announced early next year.
?I?ve been up close with plenty of customized rides, and this looks as hot as any Mustang I?ve ever seen,? said Owen Schiano, brand director for BFGoodrich Tires. ?From the engine, the car?s athletic stance and its aggressive lines to the brand new BFGoodrich tires it sits on, this is one impressive machine?top to bottom and front to back.?
A show-car quality paint job and custom interior with sport seats and door inserts help give the Mustang its aggressive, yet refined look. The vehicle will roll in style with Foose-designed 20-inch aluminum wheels and 20-inch BFGoodrich? g-Force T/A? KDW ultra-high performance tires.
Under the hood, the World?s Hottest Mustang will be powered by 4.6-liter V-8 engine, equipped with a Supercharger System, fuel system upgrades, tuning software, charge cooler, supercharger oil feed and a compressor bypass valve. The upgrades will provide 462 horsepower, 50 percent more power than a stock 2005 Mustang GT.
The Mustang will feature heavy-duty boxed subframe connectors, front and rear coil springs, special six-piston front brakes, high-flow catback exhaust and other additions to ensure maximum performance and reliability.
For recreation, the vehicle will be equipped with a custom audio entertainment system, complete with a touchscreen stereo and navigation system, amplifiers, speakers, subwoofers and tweeters.
?I wanted to create a Mustang that would push the envelope to the very edge in terms of style and function,? said Foose. ?This GT can definitely back its claim as the world?s hottest, and I?m glad one lucky winner will have a chance to take it home.?
Foose?s work extends well beyond his notoriety from The Learning Channel. Foose also designed cars for movies including Blade Runner, Robo Cop and the 2000 remake of Gone in 60 Seconds starring Nicolas Cage. His many career accolades include being named the youngest member ever inducted into the Hot Rod Hall of Fame (at age 33) in 1997 and the first recipient of the Goodguys Trendsetter Award in 1998. The following year Foose won the prestigious ?America?s Most Beautiful Roadster? (AMBR) award with his design for Fred Warner?s ?Shock Wave,? followed in 2000 by another win with Chuck Svato?s ?0032.? To date, Foose has been involved with six AMBR-winning vehicles. In 2005, Foose won his third Ridler Award, the most coveted prize in the world of custom auto design.
