Hi guys...I'm sure you've heard this a hundred times...

I've got the stock 225/60/15s on my 89 with four lugs...and desperately want to switch that.

My plan is to have the four lug jobbies pulled out and re-do it with 5 lugs and disks all around. Obviously I'll need to dump the old wheels....so may as well increse the size.

I'm mostly worried about what will rub.

Definitely has to be at least 17 inch wheels...the wider the better. I could go as low as 40 series...no lower.

What size could I fit in the back without issues...and what is the largest I could go in front without rubbing around corners?

Thanks guys!

Well I can tell you I have had 245 45 17's on a stock ride height 90 gt conv with no rubbing problems at all.

I have also assisted putting on a 5 lug cobra brake conversion and when we fininshed "skooters" (another forum member) father put on 245 45 17 tires with the car lowered and if I am correct he did have some rubbing but nothing major, I think it was when he when over big bumps.

If skooter reads this maybe he can add something to this.

These 245s were on the front as well?

Mine has been lowered just a tad...when the new suspension went in...it got lowered just a bit.

Thanks for getting back to me!

I am pretty sure they were 245 45 17 all around. I wish "skooter" would chime in and give some feedback, but I am 99% sure.

If your car is lowered at all, whichi it sounds like it is, then 245's won't fit on the front. You will get some rubbing. People do it all the time though. I have 245's on the back of mine and they fit on the back just fine. I tried them on the front and I realized that they wouldn't work for me. I would recomend 245-255 on the back and 225-235 on the front. You shouldn't have any problem with that combo.

My dad didn't recall what size the tires were. I think he did have a slight rubbing problem when he turned the wheel all the way one direction. It was either rubbing or some weird grinding sound. This is all pointless, though, without the tire sizes.
