The 2005 Mustang Concept looks great ,but I am not convinced it is the real deal. I didn't think we would ever see a two seater stang. It just isen't a Mustang if it only has two seats.
I also thought the gauges and dash were just a little to retro looking. All that billet steel was a little overkill. I hope they change a few things before they start producing them.

I agree. I really like the idea of the new body style and everything but I dont like the idea of having only 2 seats. I also think that the interior looks a little too futuristic for my taste. Did anyone see the steering wheel!? I thought it looked gross.

I actually thought the current Mustangs loocked really bad. Boy have they really grown on me, especially with a shaker hood.

This is my first time posting on this site. I just had to post on this though, as I think this is the ugliest Mustang since the Mustang II. The car is based off of the Lincoln LS platform and it shows. This looks like a Lincoln LS! My hope is that this is just a radical show car and the actual production version is more toned down.

I completely agree with you sixspeed. I hope this is just a radical concept and not the real deal. We will have to see.

OK, what part looks like a Lincoln. The nose can be compared to a 68 Shelby Fast Back. The Hood is in line with fastback on one of the Wallpaper pics. The rear could be retro Cougar. The car is just flat out AWESOME looking. They did state in an interview with Motor Trend that this is JUST the prototype but the 2005 will be very close to what you see. As far as the Mustang II's, the Ghia, Mach, Cobra II and King Cobra were great cars during their time. They just happened to be developed during a time that demanded smaller more fuel effeceint cars. The younger Generation that was not around for this era has no clue as to the popularity of the Mustang in the mid 70's. I guess you could compare them to the first Honduh Civic's which were about the size of a sardine can.

Thanks for the link to the Mustang II site! I stand corrected. Sorry to step on any fans of the Mustang II, my prior post was made out of ignorance. I'm still learning about Mustangs so I shouldn't have been so harsh. I'm still not crazy about the new Mustang.

Give it a chance, Ford is still making some changes to it. I imagine the instrument cluster and seats will definantley change. They also talked about more roundness to the body.
As far as the Mustang II's, they are a misunderstood portion of the Mustang Legacy. Most people go off what they hear and never actually see them. I dont know if you ever saw Charlie's Angels or not, but Farah Fawcett drove a Mustang Ghia.

I think that the body looks great!!! Its the interior that I think should be revised a little. Thats just my opinion though. Everyone likes their own thing. Hopefully FORD can manage to please everyone.

I think the new coupe concept looks killer. Not sure about the interior. I dont like the look of the vert so far though. From pictures I've seen you can definately tell it's a concept because it has no door handles, 19-20" rims, Lowered stance, 2 seater. It will change when they come out with it no doubt about it.
I think the exterior looks Great !! Especially the Coupe ! Does look like the late sixties fastbacks but still has modern style (or did I say that backwards?LOL). The back view reminds me of the old Shelbys. The car just looks BAD (as in BAD ASS...lol)!! That color suits it well too.
I also agree the interior definitely needs a different look. I also believe it will change to something somewhat more modern than futuristic.
What does anyone think about the "glass" roof? I think it looks cool, but not too practical.
The convertible still needs something, not quite sure what. Maybe the lines are to straight from front to back?. Not enough curves maybe?
The 2 seater idea.....I like it, should be a choice !(obviously I don't have any kids yet...LOL)
Anyway, everyone will have their own opinion, I think most will agree on the exterior being a nice look to shoot for.(Then again U might not agree. LOL)
*Just think , if this Stang had come out a few years ago it would be in the ranks of the Viper (stock). Weren't they rated around 400hp for awhile?
Keep Stangin' !
I think the new design gets better the more it is seen.
Looking like a Mustang II (if it does) is not so bad. They were OK for the time they were made. The year before the Mustang II, I think it was 1973, the very large flatback Mustang was not something that great, IMO. It was hard to tell them from Torinos.
They sure came with big blocks though. But in those days very few of us could even think of affording the good ones.
In all, for any time period, the Mustang has been the right car at the right time. I think that is why it's still around.
The Mustang Rules. I am sure we will have a 50 year aniversary like those other guys.
There is a link somewhere on stangnet about another possible 2005 Mustang look. It looked really retro but REALLY NICE. I mean, almost a complete throwback to a 68.
The 2005s are nice as they are but there is nothing definate about them that attract me. I was in love with the sexy look of the sn95 and the hard edge of the 99+ but the new ones just look like they've become an afterthought.

I agree with Los. I love the SN95. The 99 I wasnt sure about at first but I really like it now. And I dont like the 05 at all.

So? What part of "based on a Pinto" is misunderstood? The Mustang II is part of what made the 70s so sucky.

.
71 to 73 had the "postal slot" fastback courtesy of "Bunkie" Knudsen. They were heavy, but still cool compared to what followed and you could get 429 power. However, they looked NOTHING like contemporary year Torinos. I remeber (still) when I first saw a Mustang II commercial at the age of six?. I said, "Aww man, they ruined it. Why did they make it look like that? (or do that, cant remember exactly what I said). Dad said, "Shut up (or be quiet). No they didnt, you dont know what youre talking about." or words to that effect.

I can't say I love the 2005 Mustang Concepts, but they are growing on me. They are by NO means what we'll be seeing in the show rooms at dealerships. The new stangs aren't going to have just two seats, a glass roof, 20 inch rims, a interior that nice, and I think it's safe to say the GT's won't be pumping out 400hp. If you want that much power you'll have to step up to a cobra..............unfortunately. :( I do know that those tail lights have got to go. Yuck!!!
I don't know for sure, but I think the next Mustang will look like these pics that have been floating around on the net.
