my friend has a superchip for an 87 mustang ,now my question is, would it be good for my 87 stang...we both have the same cars,speed density,5.0 ho fi everything the same except his is standard and im automatic,i'v searched everywhere and no answer,can someone help?tks!

The type of chip you purchase should be based on your modifications and what you plan on in the future. There are chips out there that you cannot re-burn and do nothing but advance the timing and change shifts points on automatics. For the same price, you can purchase a chip that can retain 2 or more tunes and can be reprogrammed once you add on modifications. Here are a couple of those companies:

Skip it. I agree that you need to get a chip that is set for your car. You are going to gain nothing by using one of the off the shelf chips. If you are at the point that you need a chip then go get one burned for you application. A stock engine doesn't need one.
