Hi fellow 5.0 fanatics,
I have an 82 Capri with a 92 Mark VII 5.0 h.o. auto o/d transplant. I'm having some starting / wiring issues. I turn the key and it makes a clicking sound and the started doesn't actuate, nothing at all. The ignition and doors were re-keyed, would this affect the ignition? I've just learned that the 92 Lincolin 5.0 still uses the SD instead of MAF, where is SD sensor located and how can i recognize it?

To me it sounds like a dead battery, a bad solenoid or a bad starter. It sounds like the key and ignition are working. Normally when it just clicks like that it is one of the 3 of them. You can test them one by one. Try jumping the car first and if that doesn't work try jumping the solenoid with a screw driver. If those don't work I would pull the starter and bring it into an autozone and have them check it and make sure that works like it is supposed to.

what he said. but on the SD issue its called an manifold absolute pressure sensor or barometric absolute sensor and is usually located on the firewall a little to the left from center. it looks like a square black box with a hose and a wire connector at the bottom of the box. it also has to tabs, one on each side for mounting. good luck. :)

try all connections and see if they are tight. any loose connetions on battery , starter or soleniod can cause clicks and no start. also clean them, especially on the battery. corosion is not your friend.:)

I had a friend that called me up about that same problem. I went over to his house and checked out his install. I told him that I had just done a AOD to T-56 six speed conversion to my car. What I found was the neutral switch on the Mark VII was different than the mustang AOD switch. I had to re-wire the Mark VII neutral switch to accomidate the mustang's switch. I would recommend that you put the car in neutral and check the switch with a OHM meter to see if it is in the same position. If not than you need to get a switch that will work or re-wire the switch. Be very carful not to by-pass the neutral switch this could cause serious damage or death. E-mail me later to see if this was the correct route of action because if it is then you can share this information to other "mustangears".
