As some of you know I am looking for a new Cobra. I came across a 2001 Cobra with only 500 miles. So this means it has been sitting in a garage for 2-3 years without being run, maybe started here and there.

My question is:

Is there any drawbacks to cars that don't see any road time?

What are your thoughts on buying a car that has been sitting so long?

Has anybody bought a car in a simliar fashion?

Let me know what you think.

I would say that would be the best bet on getting a used car; something that's been garaged kept for awhile, though I'd have to worry about why they did it... A cobra is not a 'garage' car.

Was the 2001 Cobra the one with the real bad wheel hop and other problems? If so think twice...

I agree. I think the '01 Cobra's had alot of problems.

As far as Cobra's not being a "garage" cars, I would agree. I have a friend that has a '96 Cobra that has about 7,000 miles on it. I swear he only drives it a couple times a year. The worst thing is, he's probably never had the car over 75mph let alone near red line!!! Now he's thinking of selling it because he wants to buy a house.

I'd buy the Cobra!!!

You'd be surprised about how incompitent some of the Cobra drivers might be. But yeah, wheel hop was a tendancy with the first two Cobras, though 99 would probably have more since 2001 did come with a slight revised version of the IRS. I could be wrong though.

The 03 is badass, no doubt, but IMV, its a let down from traditional Ford logic.

A 2001 with only 500 miles? I would probably jump on the deal. If he has had it stored then it should be alright. Would just make sure it was given the once over first.
A car dealer broke out a 95 Cobra R that he had moth balled and sold it for 35k here in Abilene... Car had 35 miles on it and all the original stickers still on the window.
