View Full Version : 96 Mustang, need help WITH MODS
I just bought a 96 mustang a couple weeks ago, I used to have a 96 GT but my insurance wouldn't cover it anymore so I ha to sell it. Anyways, I need more power outa my stang, and I am definatly on a limited budget, im 16 and I work at a local grocery store. My mustang is a standard. Please don't say put a v8 in it because I obviously can't do that. What will give me the best bang for my buck, any help would be appreciated,
I also will be going up to a strip this summer and I don't want to be embarrased you know. My GT ran a 13, so I'd like to get somewhere around 15? Thanks

If you put a V8 in your car it will still be insured as a 6 cyl. They go by the VIN# for insurance purposes. BTW

We have a person in our club who has gotten his V-6 in the low 14's high 13's. He has done this by CAI, custom chip, headers, and an off road H pipe, I think he may have changed gears also but I am not positive. There was a previous issue of Muscle Mustang that dealt with the V-6. There is alot out their for the V-6, you will just have to do some research. www.gefracing.com has some high performance parts including superchargers, gears, CAI and other items. Good luck with your MUSTANG and enjoy what you have.
I'm not that good with motors and everything you said just went in one ear and out the other. How much horsepower does my mustang have? How much horsepower would I have if I put, cold air induction, flowmaster exhaust, and underdrive pulleys?

I believe the 94-98 V-6's run 150hp and 215tq. Here is a site you can visit to check out some of the items for the V-6. http://www.supersixmotorsports.com/ This is pretty much a high prefomance site. I would still suggest looking into www.gefracing.com for the bolt ons. As far as HP rating, you would have to look at item description and it should tell you.
I want to put dual exhaust on my V6 stang
whats the best and cheapest and sounds good? how much horse power will it give me?
thanks
