Im at other Stang boards, same name, but not very active. That may change soon however. I too read about this just this past weekend in MMFF. My car is described in my profile. Im aiming at getting a 99 Cobra in March. If not that, then a 01-02 GT. If not that then who knows. Theres a nice 00 Contour SVT that showed up at a dealer lot two weeks ago. Black, 17440 miles and price dropped to 119??. Anyway, Ive been reading, driving, dealing and fixing cars for many years. Im previously an ASE Master Recertified tech and I have as one of my degrees an Associate of Applied Science in auto technology. Anyway, so long for now.

Cheers

Welcome Aboard. I see you have a 72 Gran Torino. Man....It has been ages since I have seen one of those. Torino's are getting few and far between.

Now see what you went and did......Made me start thinking of my younger days. This was one car I used to see everyday on T.V and never missed the show. :D http://members.tripod.com/robertb99/torpage2.html

Torinos Rule
a few weekends ago, my buddy blew the 351W in his '67 Mustang and so his g'pa said we could come get an engine from him. WE found a '72 Torino sitting in the field with a complete 351C. It had been there for 15years just sitting and only had about 85,000 miles on it. We replaced all the gaskets, rod bearings, slight hone job, carb rebuild and amazingly it started up and ran. THe amazing part was we did this in snow and sub-freezing temps and with one battery giving power to the coil and one to the starter, the big engine roared to life. I'm just glad his stang is a '67, because just to change spark plugs, we will have to pull the engine most likely since there is about 1/2" of clearance between the heads and shock towers. I guess a '66 won't even house a big block w/o some cutting and hammering, we got lucky. Also slapped in an AOD in place of the C4 while it was all out.

I'm a newbie here too and found out about this sweet site from MM&FF. Very sweet site, I'll definantly hang around and tell all my fox-body buddies about it too.

Cool. So, are you saying you pulled the motor from the Torino to power the Mustang? What about the Torino? I need some odds and ends parts. Where is this? What kind of shape is it in? Can you take pics and post?

Thanks.

Yes, the Mustang is now powered by the Torino 351C. Its only 2V though, which kinda sucks, but it was free. THe car is in sad shape exterior wise. It was rearended and then driven for several more years and has now sat in a snowy, rainy, rat infested Kansas field. I can't get pics, but what do you need?

Headlight bezels. Grill. Grill shell and stainless trim. Bumper mounted turn signals, lens and all. Headlight "soup bowls" that hold the headlight. Side marker lights, all of them. "Tar paper" inner fender covers. Taillght lenses and light assemblies. Hood bumpers, front and rear. Battery hold down J bolts and tray. Rubber visor tips. Horn switch. Most of these I need as spares in case of damage. Some, like the horn switch, rear light assemblies and J bolts I need to fix stuff now.

Where are you anyway?

Clevelands only came in 4v with the Cobra Jet option. Thats also the only one that could get a four speed and functional Ram Air. I got to see an auto CJ years ago at an auction. My Dad bought a coupe Cleveland 2v a few months after I got mine.

Is the "cornfield car" a Sport with the hoodscoop?
