Well I just spent the last 4 years looking for a good fox 5.0. Spent six months just getting enough of a down payment to take it home. Two days ago I run across a 66 mustang with the 289, recently rebuilt. The only work that needs done is the crome replaiced on the driver side door and some minor dash work. The price tag is $6,500. The only way I can possibly get it is to sell my 5.0. Problem is I really like my 5.0 and will probably stick with it. (It should be paid off as soon as my tax returns come in) but was wondering what others might do.

Hello. I am also from arkansas but that is irrelevant.

I am a huge fan of the classic stangs and i would probably go for the 66 but it sounds like you are pretty loyal to your fox. If you worked that hard for it and like it that much, i suggest you keep it and not regret getting rid of it, (unless of course you think you would enjoy the 66 more).

Id can the 5.0. Its EASILY replaced later on, but thats a decent price for the 66 IF its in GREAT shape.

What kind of 5.0 do you have? If you know in your gut that you just want to stick with the 5.0 stay with the 5.0, plus from what it sounds like you worked hard to get your car so it probably has sentimental value.

It's a 91 hatchback LX. The first one around here I've found with spotless interior(besides the stinkin ashtray but will fix that soon.) and one slight ding on the finder(wich with tax returns will be fixed in the next month) One of the main reasons I'm leaning toward keeping the 5.0 is it will be paid off in the next couple of weeks and can start spending cash on the fun stuff. Still that 66 would be fun. The bank said after fixing the two slight problems with the 66 as long as it was being driven it is worth about 19,800

buy the 66 and fix what needs to be fixed and sell it and make some profit.

Then go buy a killer Mustang.

Just a thought!
