I've been driving it for 2 months now and the 2.73's blow ass. So I just ordered some 3.73's to get installed by my friend who is also gonna teach me how. Should be fun.
I dont do drugs.
I dont do kiddie pr0n
I dont drink much
Mustangs are my poison.
In the last month I've added:
Fluidyne
65mm TB
Pro 5.0 shifter
limo tint
and now 3.73's
I dont think headers/mid pipe/catback can be far off.
If I had a wife she'd kill me.

I've always heard to have the gears put in by a shop/professional. You really have to get these things in correctly. Make sure this guy knows his stuff.

Well since you don't do any of those bad things, then you have to spend your money on something, so let it be the Mustang. It's hard to leave something alone and not mod it.:D
Have fun with those new gears. My husband installed my 3.73's with no problems. I couldn't imagine going back to 2.73's after having them.

uh ohhhh. You've just been bitten by the aftermarket bug....To my knowledge, there is no known cure (except being broke.......but then again, there is always the local pawn shop) :D

Yes. You have to set pinion depth, backlash and check the tooth contact pattern. You need a dial gauge and clamp stand. You also need a big enough torque wrench to crank the pinion nut down to 175 ft pnds to get the proper bearing preload. This is made more difficult by the fact that it all has to be done with the diff in the housing as opposed to on a bench with a nine inch.

My friend doing the gears has done a dozen or so before. He built his '99 cobra motor himself. He is the one person who I explicitly trust with my car. People here who also post on the Corral and know Trumps know what Im talking about. :D

That should be a lot cheaper than a shop then. I think I spent about $200 for my gear install. It's very nice having buddies who know what they are doing or buddies with the right tools.
