I've never had any experiance with a fox bodied Mustang and was wondering if they have a problem with rust in the floor pans and trunk areas like older Mustangs do.
There's a 92 setting on a small lot near here with $2999.00 on the window. I'm going to stop and look at it. Not a bad price if it's in decent shape. Can always offer less and hope he takes if with all the used cars on the market he may want to move it.

it all depends on what state it was driven in...i mean if you buy a car that was driven in the michigan winter for 7 years you are gonna see rust..anywhere where there is salt you will eventually see rust..
i have had minumal rust(i live in Green Bay Wis..) but have taken care of it...my floor board was rusted(i cut it out and add new metal and sealed it) and some minor rust spots towards the bottom of the doors...
the main spots ive seen are the hatch lid, bottom of doors..and floor boards..
just my experience

Thanks Justang_87. Did you use floor pans made for yours or sheet metal?
Are replacement floor pans made for Foxes?
Can you still get OE body parts from Ford?
I'm here in Indianapolis and we see our share of salt and snow (51 inches this winter) so I'm familiar with rust even on my 01 Ranger already.

i made my own from sheet metal and then sealed it with some bare metal sealer...

there is replacement floor pans...but for the price difference i went with home made ones...i want to say they are about or around a 100 a piece..if you want the place that has them let me know and i can find them and post a link...but making your own isnt that hard either
Can you still get OE body parts from Ford?
with all the aftermarket parts available you can get plenty of perfect peices made by other companys...but if you know some people and check other sites classifieds you can always find factory rust free parts for really good prices..thats the best way to go in my opinion...i like to save as much cash when i do my car work
anything else i can help ou with? let me know

Thanks Justang_87.
I stopped and looked at the Mustang and it is sold but the guy said he'd let me know if the young man that bought it comes up with the money. If not I'll go look it over a little better. There's not much rust underneath that I could see. I have to agree with not spending alot if I can make it myself.
Thanks again:cool:

well the easiest way to see rust on the floor pans is to check under the carpet by the door...just lift up the moulding there and take a peek..mosty likely iof the car ever had a heater core go...then it probably has some rust under the passenger floor..good luck man and let me know if you need anything
