Im on vacation as of yesterday with the intent and goal to finally buy a car as Ive been talking about for a while. Mustang GT, 01 or 02. Theres really NOT much out there, esp in manual. Looked yesterday at my top two picks and two other unknowns. Second pick was hypothetically already sold at "the tent sale" so I didnt even get to see it. I suspect it was typical bullschit so he could song and dance me on a new car. Of the last two choices, one was sold (again, possible bullschit or bait and switch) and the last was an auto, the internet ad didnt say what trans.
So, heres the link to my only real choice. Its a fixed price as its a "managers special" because its been on the lot over 60 days. I drove it, not much to say. Its a GT, it has low miles, still smells (mostly) like a new car inside, looks new, didnt see any damage but I didnt do the "fine tooth comb" inspection. I dont like that its passed through a few hands. This dealer got it from a wholesaler who likely got it from another dealer that wanted to unload it. So, its been shuffled around for awhile, plus since its not a trade in, theres no way of finding out why it was traded in so soon, where it came from or was purchased or who owned it first. Its blah white, the only yellow I can find are crappy V6s or verts. To me, it didnt idle smooth like an FI car should. It seemed to have a sporadic "tremble". Id expect that with my Torino, but not an FI car. Otherwise, it seemd to run fine. To me, however, it seemed "rough" or "harsh", but that could just be the firm suspension and not a driveability problem. It also is TOO quiet inside from an exhaust standpoint, not like my Torino. Also, while it SHOULD be quicker than the Torino, and likely is, the perception wasnt there. There was no great "onward rush" in my view like in the Torino. Who knows, maybe its just illusion or unfamiliarity. I was just expecting more I guess.
Anyway, thoughts? Comments? This is probably going to be the one I get. Good price (but I still wish it was less, after tax and other ****, its pushing my budget on the loan), good shape, 02, low miles. It has the bs Mach 460 sound and the plain base wheels and of course, its freakin white, like 65+% of the cars out here and like my Torino.
Anyway, thats whats up.
