Ok ,I have been a mechanic for 8 years now,and i have never seen this.I have a 91 ssp 5.0 coupe 5 speed. With the car off,i can push in on the clutch (stiff)when the car starts ,the clutch pedal pops and loosens.also there is a wierd awful vibration in the pedal and a rattling noise as well. Both of these symptoms go away when i press in on the clutch.I am thinking it may be the throwout bearing.Anyone else had this problem?Any input would be appreciated!!!

It might be the T. bearing or the clutch cable. That is the only thing i can come up with. I would replace the throwout bearing and then the cable and see if it makes any difference. Let me know what you find out.

could it possibly have something to do with the clutch quadrant?

Well I guess I meant to say clutch quadrant (cable). I know those are different things ,but I see them as one thing. I would think if you are getting vibration from your pedal and that is connected to the pedal. That might have something to do with it. Allthough that might just be part of the problem too. You might have bigger problems then just the quadrant.
