Take the V6 out of your car and put a v8 in it.
I'm just kidding.
I would start with an exhuast system and maybe a better air intake
For Exhaust:
Personally, I like MAC exhaust products. I think MAC makes good exhaust systems at a reasonable price. I'm not sure if they offer anything for V6 mustangs though.
I would get headers, a high flow cat pipe, and a performance muffler and tail pipe.
Air Intake:
MAC also makes several cold air induction kits for mustangs.
After you get better exhaust and air intake,
you could consider getting a performance computer chip.
There are several different kinds and I'm not really sure what chips are offered for V6 mustangs. I think there is one called Diablo and I think Saleen offers one as well.
Hope this helps

In your position you should start with the basics.
K&N Filter and get a nice aftermarket exhaust.

why not? you could easily run 8 psi on stock internals.

8 psi is a very safe tune. and whos they? not everybody is included in "they". 8 psi is not enough to shatter anything.

MAC cold air, exhaust, and nitrous.
Steeda (www.steeda.com) has an excellant reputation and a lot of stuff; for the 6, it's mostly non-power-adding.
If you desire horsepower, Super Six (www.supersixmotorsports.com), Morana (www.moranav6racing.com), Redline Performance (www.rpm-mustangs.com), or Need 4 Speed (www.need-4-speed.com/V6%20Performance%20Corner.htm) can help you out.
If you want to open up your exhaust, JBA makes headers, Borla and Bassani make catbacks, and MAC makes just about everything that goes in back of the exhaust gaskets.
If you want some show to match the go, I can vouch for Cervini's body parts. Saleen's always popular, and Steeda (again) offers a few things.
I've also found the StangNet.com reviews page to be helpful. Also, posting questions on specific parts tends to be a good way to get information.
It's all a matter of what you want to do with your car, and how fast you're willing to spend.

Hey read my sig and that would be a good start for you. The exhaust i wouldn't recommend.....that was the good stuff back in the day when i got it, but there are better things such as offroad X or H-pipe, Mac as said earlier makes very good parts. If you want a chip be careful what you get cuz if you have to re-tune your car, you'll be forkin it over big time. Well hope this gets you on the right track.

After you put in a K&N and an aftermarket exhaust system, I would reccomend some gears. Although they wont give you any actual horsepower gains, they will help you get moving quicker. For your application I would reccomend 3:55 gears. If you are going to add some serious power, please DO NOT juice it. I would go with 8 psi. from a Vortech blower.

I agree, the best power adder is some sort of "forced induction" whether it be turbo, super or nitrous.
What you got too spend?
