Me and shibby finally got to the track with our 2001 cobras. Our cars are exactly the same except for the color. Our cars are completely stock to the bone except shibby has a K&N.

Skooter was on hand but his stang was sleeping. Skooter took some video that I will cut up and hopefully get up soon on the website somewhere.

My 1/8 mile times were pretty crappy. I had better times in my 90 GT conv.

I have to say in my '01 cobra the wheel hop is terrible. My best run was my second and my time was a 9.1 with a 60 foot time of 2.2 at 60 MPH. (woo 60mph)

My first run was a 9.5 because I was just going easy. After my 9.1 run I never got any times lower. My last run I launched at 3500rpm and the wheel hop was so bad I though I broke a half shaft. The sounds that came from the back were unreal.

The wheel hop was a big factor and I did not realize it was so bad on Cobras. I have included a pic of me and shibby.

I will let shibby tell you his times.

First of all, I would like to say I was very disappointed with the track conditions. I spoke with several people last night after I stopped running, both Mustangs and F-Bodies, and not one of them was pleased with the track. No one could hook up, even the guys running full on 10.5in. slicks. Rigney and I were both spinning the tires all the way through first and getting very squirly after slamming second. At first I accepted the blame and thought it was just me, but after talking with Rigney in between runs and comparing times and run scenarios with several other racers who all had consistent R/T's, 60ft., 330ft., and trap speeds, every complained of excessive traction problems even those running slicks and drag radials. My best time was a 9.20, with consistent 2.3 60ft. times. Under a heavy launch, I got the same violent wheel hop that Rigney did, so I had to keep it at 2500rpm and feather the clutch because the wheels were spinning so bad. I would like to try and go to Ennis before the season is over to compare tracks and to be able to use more of the Cobra's top end. I feel under better track conditions we both could have seen high 8.90's, but that's the way drag racing goes sometimes!
