I was wondering whether anyone can help me, I would like to replace a 289 Eng. with a Big Block 390 or 427, in a '65 fastback mustang. Is this possible? If so what is involved? Look forward to any replies. Nick Australia.

the engine bay is to small to cram a big block in there, you might be able to get a 302 in there but im not sure, might be "stuck" with the 289, the 289 is a great motor that ford should of never replaced (they know it to cuz they are usin it again :)); or atleast kept as an option for the fox bodies

Holman & Moody made a kit to put a big block in a 65 Mustang,
other kits are out there, manly front end replacement, so you can
replace the shock towers with a strut front end. a lot of work but
it can be done.
