I have a 94 5.0 gt. my problem is that it boggs down if you floor it and when you push the gas petal more than half way. I had a computer check about six months ago and it said codes--171,172,181,189. maf was cleaned and Ireplaced the right oxygen sensor. It helped for a while but now it is back. It is now cutting out, and yesterday on the interstate it started msing and cut off. I stopped on the side of the road waited five min., and then restared it and came home. It is running ok but is still bogging down and is doing so at lower and lower levels on the gas pedel.

When was the last time you changed you fuel filter. It could be clogged. If it still does it check you fuel pressure see if that is up to par also.

If you can hear it and it seems "loud", it is probably going out. The only time you should really hear the fuel pump is when you turn the key to accessory and everything powers up. If it is always audible, it is probably on it's way out.

o2 sensors???

My Stang ran like complete crap when the o2s went out. I never got a code when the o2s went out though.

Thanks guys. I was wondering if my transmission (auto) is causing some of the problem. It gets wouse when hot, and it seems the auto tran and the computer are not working together.
My changes----underdrive pulleys, off road pro chambers (no cats), two chamber flow masters,4-10 gears and k& n tube intake

I would still check the fuel pressure to see if the pump is going but also scan for codes see if something pops up

Hey carnut,
Your DTCs state your lean, so lean in fact, that the PCM addaptive stratedgy has gone in the opposite direction, and gone completely rich. [171,181- 172,189]
If your fuel pump is noisy, just replace it. It's trying to tell you something!
Have a shop look at what your MAF is doing, check for an in spec failure. This can be verified by checking the MAP/BARO PID.
If you are at sea level, the reading should be 155-160Hrtz
Voltage only tells part of the story.
My gut feeling tells me you have a vacuum leak somewhere, and replacement of O2 sensors is like putting a band-aid on a hemoraging tumor.
Assuming your car is mostly stock, i.e, no power adders, cam, etc
just the basic bolt ons, FP should be between 30-40psi, w/ vacuum to the regulator,50 or so w/o. Engine vacuum should be a STEADY 18-20" give or take a couple of", and initial timing between 10-14dgrs
Check ALL vacuum lines/hoses, including the PCV system!
Also check breather connections to the fresh/cold air inlet, and intake manifold gaskets for leaks as this is unmetered air, and this is just like a vacuum leak. Hope this helps. Good luck.
