Lately my check engine light has been popping on every once in a while. It happens between about 1800-2000 rps when i am just holding my speed. When it first started it just happened in fifth but lately it has been fourth and third also. Any ideas? I was thinking o2 sensors but i have no idea why i am thinging this.

Squeeeg,
Is the MIL flashing, or does it come on, stay on for awile , then go off?
Before you replace anything, retrieve the DTCs.
If you do not have a code reader, go to Autozone, or whatever major autoparts chain is in your area, and have them retrieve it for you.
Armed with that info I will be more than happy to help you.
We as a country keep Bosch & Mitsubishi in business just by replacing O2 sensors that most times work just fine.
To put it in prespective; In the last 10 yrs, I have only replaced 3 O2 sensors on the approx 10,000 cars I have worked on.
This of course does not count cars w/ blown headgaskets/major engine damage that have contaminated sensors.
The point is, an illuminated MIL is usually caused by something other than an O2 sensor.

Yes, just get a code reader at the parts store. That's the best thing when a check engine light's coming on. I've got one and I'm sure a number of other people have one as well. It has the full run down of all the codes and what they mean.

Well ran the codes.
KOEO 67,82
KOER 11,11 all clear
I have no smog pump so that is why I am getting some of the other codes, they have been there forever.

Squeeeg,
The Ford dealer website only goes back 10 yrs, so I cannot get PPT info for your DTCs today.
The 67, if memory serves right is an AC input code. Did you have your climate control shut off during the test? More than likely this is a bogus code.
I will check on Alldata tomorrow for the DTCs and get back to you.
Also I need to know if the MIL was flashing, as if to indicate a misfire.
It would help to know, because the conditions that caused the lamp to come on are changing. First in one gear, then in others.
Whatever is turning your MIL on is not a hardfault as your KOER has just pass codes.
The more info you can give me, the better I can help.

climate control was off when i did the test. But the AC dosn't work, out of freon, prob a leak in the compressor like every other mustang I have owned. Neutral safty suitch does work, the only reason I mention this is when autozone checked those codes for me that was one of the solutions.

Squeeeg,
For your year, the 67 can be either the neutral switch or AC input
When the selftest is run it is only checking for electrical open, shorts,& grounds. Lack of freon won't have any affect.
durring the test either the clutch pedal wasn't depressed or the climate switch was on. Any position doesn't matter.
The 82 concerns your secondary air [ thermactor] selinoids. Since you said your air pump is gone there is not much you can do.
Besides the light coming on, do you have any driveability concerns?
If not, dont worry about it. The PCM is looking for an output durring the drive cycle, and it's not seeing it.
If you have driveability issues, let me know.

Nothing as far as driveability is wrong. Is the clutch supposes to be depressed during the test? If so oops mine wasn't.
