hi guys, i think you are all guys. anyway i am new here but i have been a mustang lover all my life, and i hope i could get one soon. my question is: HOW COME THE SPPED GUAGE IN THE V6 IS 125 MILES, I MEAN THIS CAR IS CAPABLE OF A LOT MORE? AND IS THERE A LAW IN THE USA FOR THAT? AND HOW COME I SAW IN THE PICS TWO SPEED GUAGES: ONE WITH 125MAX AND THE OTHER 145MAX???????????????

Ford Just does that for no real reason. It is something special for the GT to have a higher speedometer. I think the **** off for the V6 is 108 from the factory but I could be wrong on that

yes i noticed the speedometer for the gt is higher, but i mean why is it limited to 145 miles , i mean i tink this car could get at least 160 miles per hour........is it a law in usa? and if i order it from outside theUSA will the speedometer be replaced?

It's only against the law to do 160 if you get caught. I know.

yeah but why would they limit the car ability, i mean they make a 200 m/hr speedometer, and i have the choice to do whatever i want , if i exceeed 145 miles then the police should have the right to send me to prison. but they shouldnt limit the abilities of this beautiful beast

Even in Europe, all passenger cars are limited to 155mph, and that includes the near 600HP Mercedes SLR
What you do after you take possesion of a car is your business.
It is simply an artificial limit decided upon by vehicle manufactures around the globe.
This of course excludes all the freakish supercars, that only the super rich can afford.

okay...

It is not illegal to burn out your speed limiter or to re-chip your computer. That regulation is implaced by ford and is just for the "safety" buffs out there to be able to look at the car and say with an easy mind that the car is "incapable of going" that fast.

As for the limiter on the V-6... it's not 108 unless that is just something in Egypt... I have a 2000 V-6 and I have exceeded 113 mph on a country road. It is very possible, and the RPM was not even screaming. With a new set of gears, a 6 speed tranny and a tank of 95 octane, I would have blown the 113 mph limiter right out of the car with a 9V battery... some websites have listings for which cars this can be done to...

The new Gt will speed limit at about 4500 rpm in 5th, as soon as you start to run out of numbers. (149)They really should have given us a digital speed in the info box they give you avg speed. I think the thicknes of the needle is 2.5 miles per hour. If wind dosnt slow you down I would guess rev limit to be about 160.mph but getting from 150 to 160 wont be quick. I believe its possible to hit speed limit just before rev limit in 4th.
Of course I wouldnt try this cos its illegal, but I had a dream .......
The rev limit is kind of cool going 1st to 2nd.
at 6k just push the cluch motor will jump 200 rpm and hold shift into second drop the cluch and it will give you a second gear scratch any mustang would be proud of.

My advice to all on this matter. Be careful about tagging the rev limiter in your Ford, regardless of model.
What you may or may not know is Ford does not call this a rev limiter, they call it a FUEL SHUTOFF, and that is exactly what it is.
So, everytime you tag that " limiter " you are starving the engine of fuel, and creating a lean condition AND A LEAN MISFIRE!!
Need I remind everyone, the Mustang contains powdered metal rods and hypereutectic pistons?
They do not respond well to detonation, which is exactly what you feel if you don't get your foot out of it.
Oh, and as a side note, you may be also setting an engine overspeed code.

Which is why if you ever put a mustang on the bottle you need to get rid of the rev limiter
