I'm planning to by a '05 mustang and i wanted to ask those of you who already have one. Would you put a system in it if it already had a 500?. Is the 500 system any good? You see because i am all about the bass in a system and i just wanted to ask if you think i would be satisfied with the system it come with already.

WHen i get mine i am going to get the 500 or the 1000 not sure which yet. thinking about the 1000. i have a pair of custom 12's that i am going to put int he back. Thats just me though. i am finnally going to have a car that people say look good, sounds good (enginewise), is fast as hell, and has a kick @$$ sound system.

My advice to both of you is go to a dealership and listen to the soundsystems.
The shaker 500 cleans the clocks of the Mach460, and the shaker1000 as should be obvious gives you approx twice the output of the 500.
Ashultima; sell your 12s and put that money towards the car.
These systems are audiophile quality.
I say go with a 1000. It will be plenty. I've been interested in trying to find a Mach 1000 to add to the Cobra. CDC has them new, but $1400 is quite a chunk. I'm thinking more along the lines of a used or ebay system.

i dont want to sell them. i got them from my boss for 50 bucks cause he was in dire need of some cash at the time and these are some good bass speakers with a great sealed box. i wonder if there is a way i can hook them up at my house to the tv or comp or something :) but no i want to keep them

Stay with the 500. The 1000 which will obviously give some oompah to the audio takes up some space int he trunk.
Unless you really need it stay with the 500. The system is expandible so you can add on later.

We have the Shaker 500 in our 05 and we hate it. We've had nothing but problems with it since day 1. It ejects CD's all the time saying "bad disc" even if it is a brand new disc. If it does decide to play one, it skips and stutters while playing it. We have an appointment on Friday to get a new one put in. If you check out the posts on AllFordMustangs.com site, you will see that the Shaker 500/1000 is the thing that is giving everyone the most problems. I wouldn't spend the money one one, just get a new system put in. My 2 cents.
PS. Someone called their's a "s**ter 500", which I thought was hilarious.
mine has been working fine so far with regular bough CD and home made recorded CD.
