What is the best intake manifold, in everyones opinion? (gets most horsepower for the money, longest lasting, etc.)

What year Mustang do you have?

If you are looking for an intake for a 5.0, I would go with the trusty cobra intake. I don't think you will find anything that compares to it for the money($399). It is the only one I have installed. I didn't have any complaints. It was a pretty straight forward install. You may want to check some Mustang mags and see if you can find any articles on the pros and cons of intakes.

Yeah, I have heard some good things about the Cobra intake. I was also looking at the trick flow track heat. I have a 90' 5.0 by the way. I'll get some more info on both of them. Thanks MRig

I think Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords did a run down a few months back on intakes, I'll flip through my mags and see if I can find it.

Im very pleased with my Cobra upper/lower. '94s and '95s need that little elbow adaptor though.

It was the November 2002 issue of 5.0 magazine, the test was done on all high RPM intakes so the info in there may not be of any use to you. Basically it said the Trick Flow type- R was better for torque and the Edelbrock 5.0 was better for High RPM power. Sorry, I thought they had an actual article on some more real world street intakes.I have heard nothing but good about the Cobra intakes myself, some of my friends around here run them. I also know of a guy that runs the Track Heat intake but I believe it responds better to a motor that has a lot of mods done to it. You can even find the Cobra intakes used at a fair price most of the time. I looked on E-bay not too long ago and there are all kinds of parts and what not for the Stangs. I guess it all really comes down to your setup and what you plan to do with it. Hope some of this helps.

It helps a lot, thanks. I'm really considering getting the cobra intake. I havent heard any complaints about it and its set at a fairly good price. How much more horsepower do you get out of the cobra?

I've always liked the Edelbrock Performer for a H/C/I 302. The lower for the Performer is the same as for the RPM so switching uppers isnt a big deal. I also like having access to the runners on the upper. Makes porting/extrude honeing that much easier. Keep in mind that a cobra intake for a fox is $399. For a 94-95 you're looking at $519.95 from Summit.

If you take a look at what most of the guys in the mags are running, it's going to be the TrickFlow or the Holley. There pricey but tons better flowing then a Cobra or GT-40. I run a custom blower intake but I have used the Cobra and it rocks up until 6000rpm then starts signing off. Anyway that's just my experience.
