ok so here it goes: so im driveing along in my car, its been about an hour of driveing, got a bout half a tank and all of a sudden i can feel it getting heavy. It bogs down and shuts down completely in middle of road. this has now happened 3 times in the last month and after this time the car just runs like crap and the accelorator is heavy(cant get any drive or push out of the car). so i took it to a few guys, they said it could be the fuel pump of fuel line but they didnt find anything cause it never shut down when they ran it at length of time. so it happened again, took it to another shop and the guy said there could be no spark commin of the plugs. but that wouldnt have anything to do with it running bad now. so another friend of mine who knows quite a bit said it is my mass air flow sensor and needs to be replaced. thing is i dont wanna take a 400 dollar guess on that and hope. (by the way i put 3 quarts of oil in it when it was shut down at night fearing it could be low and then at jiffy lube yesterday the guy said i was way over high on the oil stick but they changed the oil, would that have anything to do with the performance?) so thats about it and hopefully someone can help me on this. i just want my cobra to go back to normal

DOes this happen every time you drive it for a length of time, or just every once in a while. Try scanning it for codes see if anything comes up. The extra oil will definately hurt performance as the crank is spinning in the extra oil it has to sork harder. like your friends, mY first guess was fuel pump also but if you didn't find anything wrong withi guess it isn't.

First thing you have to do is drain the oil out and add the propper amount. Over filling the crank case can cause engine dammage and drivability problems. Next thing you should do is call Steeda and order a fuel PSI gauge that mounts on the fuel rail. that way you can monitor fuel PSI when you are experiencing the drivability problems. ( The fuel PSI should be between 35-45 PSI ) If the fuel PSI drops when you rev the engine then you know the problem is the fuel pump, another thing you can do with the fuel PSI gauge is check the fuel pump check valve. After you turn the vehicle off the fuel PSI should hold and not drop off. The last thing that could cause the problem that you are expericencing is a dirty mass air flow meter. If you have a K&N or oil type air filter and have recently cleaned and re-oiled the filter you may have added too much oil to the filter and this could contaminate the wires on the mass air flow meter. ( What happens is the oil collects on the wires of the mass air flow meter and the meter send incorrect information back to the PCM which will cause drivability problems. ) What you can do to correct this problem is remove the mass air flow metter and clean the little wires in the meter with a electrical contact cleaner (No brake cleaner) Be very careful not to touch the wires in any way or you will be buying a new meter! Well good luck and let me know what happens.
