HAS ANYONE WITH THE GT HEARD A GROAN COMING FROM WHAT I THINK MAYBE THE REAREND GEAR, I ONLY NOTICE WITHIN ABOUT A MINUTE OF STARTUP. ANY IDEAS AS TO WHAT IT IS?
ALSO WHY IS FORD RECOMENDING 5-W20 OIL? THANKS.

If you have already noticed that when you turn the key to start the car, the engine starts with gusto. It will idle after initial start at about 1500-1600 RPMS; then drop down to a more sane 800-900 RPM at cold idle after 10 to 15 seconds.

The groan that you may be hearing is the electric fuel pump in high speed delivery mode delivering the fuel from the tank to the engine during that starting period.

Most will never even need to press the gas pedal on initial start as the computer decides how much the motor needs for initial startup.

Unless you have to warm the car up a bit to help defrost or deice the windshield you should drive on off, since the motor has little need for warmup. Do the basic slow speed driving routine until the temp gauge hits the first tick mark then you can drive normally.

My car would backfire at start up . but only at 32 deg warmer or colder was fine. I took it in and the re-flashed the coputer. WOW added about 20 HP in mid range.

I have a clicking sound from my rear end almost sounds like a locker. but I think it is limted slip. Only when turning sharp .

I am in process of getting a GT. One thing that bothers me is a rumor that I heard from two Salesmen and a Broker; rumor has it that there is a Patent issue w/the Mycolor dash upgrade i.e. the $450 interior upgrade option. Being that there is an issue w/one of the componets of the upgrade, you can no longer order the package. I could care less about Mycolor, I just want the aluminum dash and other aluminum laminated pieces.

Has anyone else heard ANYTHING about this?

Please tell me it is a rumor!

Thanks

This should clear it up:

Frank Weyer invented the Method and Apparatus for Providing User Selectable Multi-Color Instrument Panel Illumination in 1999 and allegedly pitched the idea to Ford ,but Ford told him to take a hike. Ford has since offered a very similar option--MyColor--on 2005 Mustangs, and Frank Weyer filed a lawsuit against Ford.

However, Ford continues to produce 2005 Mustangs with the MyColor option, which is coupled with the Interior Upgrade Package.

The initial projected take rate on IUP by Ford Marketing was than 20-30%, but the actual take rate was closer to 80%. That exceeded the production capability of Ford's suppliers, and Ford got backed up on the orders. They increased capacity for IUP orders at the Flat Rock plant, and production is back to full speed.

The lawsuit is still in the courts ,but I have not heard anymore. It seems as if Ford went behind his back and developed their own.

It would be funny to see how much Ford will have to pay this guy off. We may never know.
