Front End Struts and Springs

Ok, it looks like we have a problem with the front suspension of the 05 GT.

I thought I had been hearing things but, the spring and strut assyembly on my car is snapping and popping LOUDLY.

Since it has gotten progressively worse, I have made an appointment for the car to be serviced. Any others with similar problems whether it be the GT or the V-6 version pay close attention to your front end.

The noise is very prominent when turning at very low speeds or encountering a slight bump at slow speed.

Current mileage is about 1300 miles.

The noises is what you might hear from a car with 100,000 miles on it. Very noticable and irritating .

You are the second person that I have heard talking about something being wrong with the 05's front suspention. Go talk to your dealer

Already have an appointment to drop the car off after I get off from work in the morning.

It is deffinately something going on. If anyone else has the same loud popping it is gonna be located in the strut and spring units in the front.

Dealer had the car on Thursday. Though unable to recreate the popping, they went ahead and did a full alignment as a precaution and retorqued all components to spec.

So far no more noise.

Dealer service manager went throught the alert database and has found no mention of this problem within Ford.

Also the struts and shocks were closely checked and nothing was found out of the ordinary.

Took the mustang in to have its front end looked at.

Work order now says.

"see ssm 18461 still under investigation by ford engineering"


It has a problem parts will be replaced. we will call you when they are available.

so ...... if your 05 GT makes funny clicking noises when backing up and turning sharp. take it in !!!!!!

Sone else in another thread wrote about this problem and said that after they took the car in and it was serviced the noise went away and had not returned.

2005 mustang vehicles may exhibit a popping noise coming from the front of the vehicle in turns. verify that noise is coming from the strut bearing or spring with chassis ears. engineering is currently investigating . no repais should be attempted at this time. monitor oasis for updates
