I've seen discussion of the HC Trap. I think that's what it's called. Can this be removed from the intake without a reflash? What is it exactly? Does it increase the air flow or give the engine a little more power or what?

Thanks.

I believe in last month's issue of 5.0 Mustang and Fast Fords they removed it. They said it only robbed 1-2 horses at stock levels.

Is it something you'd want to remove, or is it better left alone? What is it and where is it?

I would just leave it alone. It is in the air inlet tube in front of the mass air meter and air box. It looks like a round piece of honeycomb and it just causes turbulence in the airflow to better disperse it to the airbox.

Thanks for the info

Because of the torque based stratedgy, no airflow changes should be made without a PCM reflash. This includes the exhaust as it effects intake airflow.
Right now SCT has the market cornered, but I'm sure that will change.

If I wanted to install a K&N cold Air kit, would Ford or the dealer I got the car do a PCM reflash for me? Or do they not do computer reflashes? Just asking because I don't feel confident in myself in buying one and doing it myself.

The reflash is done using an aftermarket program, nothing the dealer can help you with.
If you have any questions, you can contact Mike Morella at Steeda. They can help you out w/ a cold air kit, and the programming from SCT.
954 960 9774. This is the same programming they are using on their turnkey cars.
