Just posting to guage interest in the 05 Mustang GT Conv.

What would you guys pay for one just to have the first one in your area???
Do you guys see different dealers not negotiating as much on certain colors, trannys, trim options, etc.. versus another???

I'm new to the forum (obviously) and I'm a salesperson with Bankston Ford in Frisco, TX. I just turned 22, and I have never been in sales before and only been working since december. I am very much an enthusiast when it comes to cars and I do a lot of racing in my spare time at the track.
I wanted to try this forum out to see what consumers thought and were thinking when theyre not here I guess about products and whatnot.

Anyway, back to the original question...

What do you guys see yourselves paying for a Convertable, and what do you guys expect dealerships to ask??

NOTE: Our GT Conv. is stickered at $33,500

Thanks!
Mike

Depends on what you guys are selling the GT hardtops for. If I had to pay more than 29k for a vert, I would reconsider and probably opt for the hardtop. But, I am not a fan of verts, so for that kind of money I would be looking for an '04 Cobra. I really don't expect Ford to move many verts for what they are asking.
33 grand for a GT. I don't think so.

We aren't ASKING 33,500 for the car, thats how much the actual list price is......

Then I don't think you'll find many people that will go over 28k for one, but then again, some people have more money than sense.

No, i'm not trying to guage how much we can charge over.

Please keep in mind im not speaking on the behlf of my dealership either, just trying to figure out what the consumer's standpoint is....

The fact is, the management are definately asking well over sticker for the particular car we have. I personally feel they're a little off, but definately not wrong in asking AT LEAST sticker for the car. Thats what the market is for our area.

I think they can expect sticker at the moment, but supply will increase and they could be left with stock loosing value.

Not sure why anybody would pay more then sticker unless they have more money then sense or they just can't wait.

I would personally wait for some kind of incentives.

Let me first say that I already have a GT on order, so they are a great car and I am buying one.

That said, if the Conv GTs are stickering a 33k, I would never buy one. Consider the competition. You can buy a BMW Z4 for the same price, and let me tell you something, sweet as the GT is, the Z4 is a much better car.

The thing that has made this Mustang so appealing to me, and the reason why I bought it over say a Nissan 350z, Mazda RX8 or a BMW 300 series is the following.

1. It was several thousand dollars cheaper than the competition.

2. It offered more standard features offering more value than the rest.

3. It's made in America.

4. It offered a more powerful engine.

In short, I wouldn't be willing to pay sticker, but who knows.

Some people have to have a car as soon as it comes out, maybe you'll be able to capitalize on that.
