What is the difference between the 302 V8 in 1969 and 1977? I know it's emissions but I need specifics and "emissions" is all I can find out. The 302 in '77 only made 136 horsepower compared to the 350-360 in 1969 and 1970, and 136 horsepower isn't very muscular.

Well, one problem you are having is this:

It sounds like you are comparing the 77 numbers to the 69 numbers of a Boss 302. There was aHUGE difference between the 69 Boss 302 and the 302 that Ford put in their fastbacks and coupes. Different heads, intake, crank, block even! list goes one, but a normal milled 302 will hold no comparision to thge mighty Boss

silver is right. the reg.302 only had(i'm guessing) a H.P. in the low 200's. plus the compression was prob. lower on the 77.

Horse power rating were rated differently in 69. They used BHP which was brake horse power and not rear wheel horse power. Brake horse power ratings were very low compared to rear wheel. Some of the HP figures on the performance cars were downgraded to stop the insurance companies from charging out the wazoo for coverage.:D
