Vaughn Gittin Jr.’s Carbon Fiber RTR-C Mustang at SEMA

November 11, 2009 Mustang News No Comments

One of the more impressive Mustangs at this years SEMA show was drift racer Vaughn Gittin Jr.’s all-carbon fiber RTR-C Mustang.  The carbon fiber body panels on the 2010 Mustang GT were the real thing as I got an up close and personal look at them.  Every square inch of the exterior of the RTR-C Mustang was covered with carbon fiber and even the Sparco seats on the inside were made of carbon fiber.  Replacing the body panels with carbon fiber shed about 400-500 pounds off the Mustang.  Some weight was added back with the addition of the supercharger, brake kit and headers.  The total curb weight of the car is said to be 3,350 pounds.  … Continue Reading

October 2009 Ford Mustang Sales Figures

November 10, 2009 Mustang News No Comments

mustang-sales-down

Ford Mustang sales were sluggish again in October as sales dropped a few percentage points from the previous month.  The Mustang was again beaten out by the Chevrolet Camaro in sales making it the fifth straight month this has happend.  Unfortunately there seems to be no end in sight so expect to see more rebates and offers to try and move Mustangs.

Sales of Ford Mustangs for October of 2009 were 4,789 compared to 4,686 from October of 2008 showing a 2.2% increase in sales from the previous year. Year to date Mustang sales are 56,469 compared to 83,557 for 2008, which is a 32.4% drop. … Continue Reading

2009 SEMA Show Photos, More Mustangs

November 8, 2009 Mustang News No Comments

DSC00199I made it back from the SEMA show in Las Vegas in one piece and a little lighter in the pocket but the whole experience was amazing.  If you have the means I recommend attending the show to fully take in all the vendor setups and custom rides.  Some of the celebrities I saw strolling around were Chip Foose, Richard Petty, Rich Christensen, host of Pinks, the crew from ‘Pimp My Ride’, Parnelli Jones, John Force, Steve Saleen and Carroll Shelby.  I tried to take photos of all the Mustangs but I am sure I missed a few.  Below I have posted a second round of photos.  You can see my first batch of photos in a previous post. I will be writing stuff about certain vehicles I saw in future posts so stay tuned.  Enjoy the photos for now… … Continue Reading

Wraptivo from Meguiars will Revolutionize Vinyl Car Wraps

November 7, 2009 Mustang News No Comments

wraptivo-roush1This week at the SEMA show Meguiars who is better known for their car care products announced ’Wraptivo’, an online customizer for designer vinyl car wraps.  Wraptivo allows consumers to create through it’s website a one-off temporary skin that transforms the exterior of ones vehicles into whatever they can dream up.  Wraptivo will give you the ability to choose textured finishes, such as chrome, carbon fiber and matte.  Other design options available using Wraptivo include shapes, NFL logos, flames, stripes and words or letters.  Once your wrap is created online and paid for it will be packaged up and shipped to a licensed installer who will wrap your vehicle in about 4-6 hours.  If your wondering about the price it will be easy on the wallet as Meguiars Wraptivo is said to cost between $1,000-$2,000 depending on style and vehicle.

While at SEMA I got a first hand view of the whole process as I created my very own skin for a 2009 Mustang.  My skin consisted of a carbon fiber wrap with some simple flames running down each side, nothing to over the top.  I also watched as they skinned a 2009 Mustang GT with a Heritage color wrap, very cool.  You can view my custom skin below along with the press release and a few photos I took while hanging around the Meguiars Wraptivo booth. … Continue Reading

Hallett CarFX Project Car on December ‘09 Cover of 5.0 Mustang Wrecks

November 2, 2009 Mustang News No Comments

800x600_mcrash02If you have read the latest issue of 5.0 Mustang magazine you might recognize the wrecked Mustang in the photo.  It’s one of the three Hallett CarFX project cars on the December 2009 cover of 5.0 Mustang.  The Hallett CarFX wrecked on a track in Jennings, Oklahoma.  The driver lost control and crashed into the tires flipping the car on it’s roof.  The whole experience was captured with some pretty sweet photography.  When it came to rest the Hallett CarFX Mustang was sitting upside down with the roof completely crushed.  Thankfully the driver and passenger were not injured.  The Mustang did have a bolt-in roll cage but it was pushed through the floor board as a result of the Mustang landing on the roof.  I bet next time they will weld the roll cage in.

Check out the amazing photos after the jump. … Continue Reading
